Who needs to be IATA DGR trained?
Personnel who are involved with lithium battery shipping (such as shipping battery-powered vehicles or electronic devices that run on lithium batteries) must complete IATA DGR Lithium Battery Training. You will come away from this course with an understanding of the best methods for monitoring and keeping records of lithium battery and cell shipments, as well as how to classify, package, mark, and label these shipments. You will also be certified to sign off on regulated documents.
Do I need additional training if I ship by ground or sea?
Yes, if you are shipping hazmat by ground you will need to go through DOT Hazmat Training as well and if you are shipping hazmat by vessel you will need IMDG training. If you ship by all modes of transportation you can take our Multimodal DOT/IATA/IMDG Shipping Course that covers all 3.
How often do I need to renew my IATA certificate?
You will need to take this IATA DGR course every 2 years to renew your certification.
We always send out reminders 60 days before your certificate is set to expire so you don’t let it lapse.
