Getting your Endorsements at the DMV (H or X)
Once you pass this course with an 80% or higher, we will upload your ELDT certification into the DMV portal. You can then go down to the DMV to take and pass the written knowledge test and receive a CDL endorsement on your license.
While these endorsements cover specific aspects of truck driving, the CDL Hazmat (H) endorsement is required to operate a vehicle that contains hazardous materials and the X endorsement is unique in that it is a combination endorsement for tank vehicles and hazardous materials. With an X endorsement, drivers can transport a variety of hazardous materials without the need for multiple endorsements and can transport hazmat in cargo tankers. A tanker endorsement permits you to carry liquid gas or hazardous liquid. Additionally, drivers with an X endorsement can transport these materials across state lines.

What Requirements Does This Course Satisfy?
Completing this course satisfies 49 CFR Part 172.704 (Subpart H) and Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements. You must complete DOT training every three years to ensure you utilize the safest practices. This course will fulfill that requirement. If you are renewing your certification, you should plan to finish this course before your current certificate expires. Upon completing your training with an 80% or higher you will receive a certification. This certification will also be uploaded to the DMV’s portal by the end of the second business day. You can then apply for your hazmat endorsement.

Course Requirements For Our Hazmat ELDT Training
There are no course prerequisites for this program. Students must have a computer or tablet with internet access and a working email. This course features audio and video.
Grading Policy
Students must take the final exam and receive an 80% to pass. After course completion, you will receive your Entry Level Driver Training certificate, which is FMCSA-approved, and can go down to the DMV to get your endorsement.
Course Schedule and Deadlines
This course will take you around six hours to complete. It’s self-paced, allowing you to work through it independently. This course must be completed within 30 days, or you will have to re-enroll. All drivers must complete this DOT/ELDT training every three years before their current certification expires.

- Individuals who obtain a commercial learner’s permit (CLP) or their CDL on or after February 7, 2022 who are looking to obtain their hazardous materials endorsement H or X in order to haul hazmat will be required to take an ELDT course before going to the DMV.
