In OSHA

To understand OSHA’s injury and illness reporting deadlines, it’s important to differentiate between various reporting requirements:

  • Electronic Submission of Injury and Illness Data (ITA):
    • Covered establishments are required to submit their Form 300A data electronically through OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA).
    • The deadline for this submission is March 2nd of the year following the calendar year covered by the forms. So for the 2024 calendar year, the deadline is March 2, 2025.
  • Annual Summary (Form 300A) Posting:
    • Employers must post their annual summary of work-related injuries and illnesses (Form 300A) by February 1st.
    • This summary must remain posted until April 30th.
  • Reporting Severe Injuries:
    • Employers must report any worker fatality within 8 hours.
    • Employers must report any amputation, loss of an eye, or hospitalization of a worker within 24 hours.
  • Recordkeeping (Forms 300, 301, and 300A):
    • These records must be maintained at the worksite for at least five years.
    • Recordable incidents must be entered on the OSHA 300 and 301 forms within seven calendar days of the event occurring.

Key points to remember:

  • There are different deadlines for different OSHA reporting requirements.
  • It is vital to check the OSHA website to remain current on all current regulations.
