This course is a 49-state hazardous waste generator course. Does your employer generate hazardous wastes? Are you involved in handling, packaging, labeling, marking, or inspecting hazardous wastes? Do you fill out and sign hazardous waste manifests? Then this is the course for you!
This course provides certification as a handler of hazardous waste for large or small quantities of hazardous waste according to the EPA regulations found in 40 CFR 262.34 and 265.16 also known as the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) for either the initial or annual refresher requirements.
Taught by Safety Compliance Management, Inc., instructors to major corporations, governmental agencies, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection as well as the authors of the one of the most relevant textbooks on the subject of hazardous materials response. | 8. | Identify safety considerations when accumulating hazardous waste. |
| 9. | Understand the basic toxicology and terminology relating to hazardous waste. |
| 10. | Understand the importance of proper record keeping and reporting requirements for generators. |
| 11. | Recognize a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest and what information is required. |
| 12. | Be able to accurately fill out a Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifest. |
| 13. | Discuss new regulations regarding universal hazardous waste. |
| 14. | Understand the need for proper training and emergency response. |
| 15. | Understand the differences between federal hazardous waste regulations and state hazardous waste agency regulations. |
| 16. | Know the state hazardous waste agency for students state of residency. |
| 17. | Meet the requirements of 40 CFR 262.34 (d)(5)(C)(iii) for certification as a hazardous waste handler. |
In order to certify that you have covered the required elements, all students must read each of the 7 self-paces units, complete all review questions at the end of 3 of the sections, and successfully complete a final exercise and final test via electronic format. The manifesting exercise must be completed to the Instructor's satisfaction. No text is required for this course; all course materials are available online. The course will take approximately 4 hours to complete.
